These are just possibilities how Singapura got its name. The naming may be even earlier than what we've expected, given by the Pelembang Prince 'Sang Nila Utama'.
1. Singgah Pura - Sri Wijaya (tempat menyembah)
2. Singa Pura - Parameswara
3. Simha Pura - Sanskrit
4. Sengka pho - Chinese
5. Sit la̍t po - Orang Seletar (selat)
6. Shōnantō - Jepun (pulau mutiara)
7. Sing Ngapura (Jawa)
8. Sangga Fora (Arab)
